Impetus for debate revives US immigration reform hopes

Bill Frist, the Republican majority leader, plans to resume Senate debate on immigration reform next month, encouraging business groups who fear that the partisan bickering that sidetracked the legislation two weeks ago had damaged chances for the measure.

"We haven't really lost the momentum," said Angelo Amador, the director of immigration policy at the US Chamber of Commerce. "We were afraid that might happen with Congress away for two weeks."
